在日前苹果公司主办的Macworld Expo大展中，EA宣布Mac版的《孢子（Spore）》将和PC版同步推出。《孢子》由畅销作品《模拟人生》的创作者威尔莱特（Will Wright）所打造，是一款让玩家自行探索，自由创造独特银河奥秘的电脑游戏。
《孢子》执行制作人露西布雷萧（Lucy Bradshaw）表示，他们非常高兴能将《孢子》这款极具创意的游戏介绍给Mac的使用者；游戏中简单易用的生物、载具和建筑创造工具，不但功能强大，同时可产生无穷的可能性。玩家可以创造任何他们想像得到的物件，并在游戏中看见他们活灵活现的模样。
游戏让玩家能打造属于自己的世界。在这个世界中，可以创造及演化生命、培植部落、建立文明，甚至于塑造整个世界。《孢子》提供了各式各样的创造工具，玩家可以随心所欲地订制几乎所有的世界层面：生物、载具、建筑甚至于太空船等等。尽管《孢子》是一款单人游戏，但玩家和其他人的创造物依然会自动在彼此之间的银河里共享，创造出无穷尽的世界，供所有人探索及游历。
《孢子》是由五个阶段所组成，各阶段分别对应一个演化进程：细胞、生物、部落、文明和太空，每个阶段都有不同的挑战和目标。玩家可以选择从细胞阶段开始，从微不足道的水中细胞生物慢慢培育一个物种，使其进化成有知觉的物种；或是从多个星球上建立部落或文明再开始游戏，随心所欲地操弄属于自己的世界。EA表示，PC和Mac版本的游戏，都将提供一套能设计生物、建筑物和载具的编辑器，让玩家享受从细胞至太空阶段的完整体验。
Tidepool阶段：游戏起初的活动是一种自由模式很类似于《派克人》、NES经典游戏《46亿年物语（E.V.O.）》以及DC上的《动物番长（Cubivore）》，在自然法则之下，依靠杀掉敌人并吃掉敌人来成长自己；
进化发展阶段：这个阶段感觉类似《暗黑破坏神》，强调角色的战斗和成长；
部族形成阶段：当角色的成长和发展达到令人满意的阶段，将放弃个体的控制转而成为新型的RTS界面；
城市阶段：这个阶段很像威尔·赖特自己的《模拟城市》系列，强调城市的建设和布局；
社会文明阶段：当你的城市建成，你可以通过缩放视角来查看。开始寻找其它文明，通过战争或外交手段，最终的目的是征服整个星球；
侵略扩张阶段：统治整个星球之后，穿过浩瀚的宇宙侵略和扩张其它太阳系的文明。侵略扩张阶段是十分开放的的。玩家可以侵略的文明，也可以在太空中冒险，这阶段类似《星际迷航（Star Trek）》系列
